At 9am The London Book Fair 2017 got underway. Publishing professionals from around the globe arrived in their masses, all here to learn, network, and kick off their year of business.
Here is a little look at this morning’s buzz from the show floor:
A celebration of Poland…
Over the years The London Book Fair Market Focus initiative has done much to open doors and create both commercial and cultural partnerships around the world.
2017 is no different and this year it’s the turn of Poland to be our Market Focus country.
Throughout the day the Polish Pavilion has been a hive of activity as they showcase the country’s dynamic publishing industry and long literary traditions. Here is a little taster of what is on offer.
Celebrity guests…
Publishing industry celebs were out in force today. First up it was Gobi the Dog and her owner Dion Leonard, Gobi made headlines last year when she started following Dion on his ultra marathon across the Gobi desert.
Gobi and Dion dropped in for the opening of The Club at the Ivy Pop-up, we chatted to them following to find out a little more about their story:
Later it was the turn of Ruby Wax. Ruby was on hand for the opening the Frazzled Café. We spoke to Ruby for an overview of what it’s all about.
Blazing the trail…
Throughout the week at The London Book Fair we are celebrating our 2017 Trailblazer Award winners, the next generation of the UK publishing industry; who are ‘roaring through their 20s’.
We caught up with one of our winners Caroline Tatam earlier to find out exactly what it means to her.
