London, 22 September 2022. The London Book Fair has today announced that submissions are now open for its Charity of the Year initiative. Non-profit organisations related to books, literacy, and publishing are invited to apply.
The chosen charity will receive support throughout the coming year, including exhibition space, opportunities and promotion at The London Book Fair 2023 (Olympia London, 18 – 20 April), as well as extensive marketing support, year-round digital showcasing, and a fundraising link on the LBF website.
Introduced in 2014, The London Book Fair’s Charity of the Year programme has supported many book charities, including the Centre for Literacy in Primary Education in 2022, the Royal Voluntary Service in 2020/21, BAFTA Kids Place2Be in 2019 and the Kittiwake Trust in 2018.
Gareth Rapley, Director of The London Book Fair, said: “After a challenging few years, the work of book-related charities has never been more important, and we are so proud at The London Book Fair to champion these wonderful organisations with our Charity of the Year initiative. As the global publishing industry comes together in London each spring, we see the incredible ways in which reading can transform lives, amplify voices and expand horizons. We are delighted to open submissions for Charity of the Year 2023 and look forward to reading this year’s entries.”
