Impact of COVID-19 on Education Focus of What Works? Educational Publishing Conference at The Online Book Fair

London, 13th May 2021. The London Book Fair has today announced the line-up for the ninth annual What Works? Education Conference at this year’s Online Book Fair, which will explore the impact of the pandemic on education with the theme ‘COVID-19: A catalyst for change?’

What Works? brings together educational publishers, learning experts and technology providers to discuss the global developments that impact their industries and markets. This half-day programme has been organised by The London Book Fair, and curated by Linden Harris, Insight & Perspective Ltd.

The programme will be chaired by Lindsay Nadin, Director Primary Learning Services & Direct to Learner, UK Schools, at Pearson, while the keynote speech will be given by Dr Neelam Parmar, Director of Digital Learning and Education, Harrow International Schools Asia.

Sessions and speakers at the conference include:

  • Responding to the need for remote learning in Uganda: Lessons learned and building back better – Emily Goulborn and Daniel Omaya, Promoting Equality in African Schools (PEAS)
  • Insights from case studies and research with schools during lockdown – Sam Derby, Oriel Square Publishing & Strategy
  • Panel discussion: EdTech that works – lessons from edtech suppliers and the classroom – including Dan Sandhu, Sparx
  • Opportunities and challenges for teachers and students in the post-lockdown classroom – Rob Chambers, Astrea Academy Trust and St Ivo Academy
