Nigel Wyman is a Professional Senior Manager with 20 years’ experience in the management of Office and Field Based teams.  He joined Gardners Books in 2013 and has enjoyed learning and developing in the world of books from day one. He took over as Head of Business Development (UK) when Bob Jackson retired in April 2017.

What was the last book you read?

This is Going to Hurt by Adam Kay.

How did you buy it?

During a signing session at our Trade Show.

And what did you read it on?

It was the hardback edition, and it was read on a flight or maybe a couple of flights.

Which writer would you have loved to have met and why?

Agatha Christie, she was one of my mum’s favourite writers and she read all her books maybe more than once.  I would have loved to take my mum to meet her.

What TV series are you obsessing over right now?

Homeland… It’s gripping and full of twists and turns.

Tell us what you do in 20 words.

Head up a team of 75 people that support the book industry as a wholesaler with great customer service and product (think that’s 21).

What is the one thing about your company that we need to know?

We have the largest range of in-stock books in the UK and Europe!

What do you like about your job?

The diversity of the people I meet every day.

This is very embarrassing but it’s “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” by Tight Fit! Me and my sisters loved that version.

What was your first job?

Working in my family business as a glass collector (We owned a pub on the beach, good times!)

And your first in the book industry?

UK Sales Manager, Gardners Books.
