Bestselling authors LJ Ross and Monique Roffey headline programme of events for aspiring, independent and hybrid authors

London, 18th May 2021. The London Book Fair has today announced the return of The Writers’ Summit for a fourth year, with a programme of digital events taking place on Tuesday 8th June as part of The Online Book Fair.
This year’s programme, curated in partnership with Bec Evans, Author & Co-Founder, Prolifiko, will feature expert panels and events which provide aspiring and independent writers with key insights and guidance from the publishing industry. Sessions will cover different aspects of author development, including the varied routes to publication, demystifying the pitching process, building an author brand, support for writers and more.
Speakers at the summit will include: Sarah Crown, Director of Literature, The Arts Council; Kimberley Young, Executive Publisher, HarperCollins; Alice Shortland, Deputy Head of Marketing, Canongate; Abiola Bello, Author, Founder of The Author School, Co-Director at Hashtag Press; literary agents Cathryn Summerhayes, Curtis Brown Group and Liza DeBlock, Mushens Entertainment; Georgina Moore, Director of Books and Publishing, Midas; Sam Missingham, CEO & Founder, The Empowered Author; and more.
Offering first-hand insight from acclaimed authors, The Writers’ Summit programme will feature talks by Scottish writer Graeme Armstrong whose first novel The Young Team was published by Picador in 2020; former Guardian columnist Oliver Burkeman; bestselling crime writer LJ Ross and award-winning author of The Mermaid of Black Conch Monique Roffey, in which they discuss their publishing journeys, writing inspiration and advice for aspiring authors.
Returning to The Writers’ Summit this year are the hugely popular agent one-to-one sessions, where attendees will be able to pitch their work to literary agents and receive instant face to face feedback. Authors will have the chance to pitch agents from Aitken Alexander Associates, Andlyn, Curtis Brown, HHB Agency, United Agents and more.
Throughout the day attendees will also have the chance to enjoy coffee break chats with other aspiring writers, joining break out rooms to discuss the day’s sessions and the writing process.
