Trailblazer Awards Winners Revealed by The London Book Fair

The winners of the fourth annual Trailblazer Awards were announced by The London Book Fair tonight at an inspiring evening at Soho House, London.

Celebrating young talent under the age of 30 in publishing, the winners of the 2019 Trailblazer Awards are:

  • Hena Bryan, Founder, Bryan House Publishing
  • Nicola Chang, Agent, The Good Literary Agency
  • Salma Ibrahim, Founder, Literary Natives
  • Sabby Kaur, Content Licensing Manager, Emerald Publishing
  • Leena Normington, Digital Content Producer, Vintage Penguin Random House

The Trailblazer Awards are run by The London Book Fair, in partnership with the Publishers Association, supported by the Society of Young Publishers and BookBrunch.

Sian Cain, Online Books Editor at the Guardian, hosted the awards, with ITN Diversity & Inclusion Lead, Priscilla Baffour, and LBF Director, Jacks Thomas, delivering speeches.

Each of the winners was presented with their award by one of the judging panel including: Emma House, Deputy Director at the Publishers Association, Ain Deheb Bensenouci, Chair at SYP, Neill Denny, Editor at BookBrunch, Sam Missingham, founder of Lounge Books, and Jacks Thomas, Director of The London Book Fair.

Jacks Thomas, Director of The London Book Fair, commented: “This year’s winners are truly inspiring, innovating our industry by founding new publishing houses, championing diverse voices, producing inspiring digital content and supporting key publishing initiatives. They have each already had a huge impact on our industry, and we look forward to seeing what they do next.”

The five winners each receive:

  • VIP entry to The London Book Fair, and access to The Club at the Ivy’s LBF pop-up
  • Tickets to LBF International Excellence Awards
  • An invitation to a dedicated SYP networking event at LBF
  • An invitation to join the PA and LBF at a Book Society Dinner (date TBC)
  • Free Pass to the LBF Quantum Conference Monday 11 March 2019
