Sol Campbell to launch Wii Golf Chairman’s Challenge sponsored by West10

NEWS FOR RELEASE, LONDON, 2 April 2014: The London Book Fair (LBF) is delighted to announce it will this year play host to the Wii Golf Challenge, an unashamedly fun event set to take place in the BIC Bar (also known as the 19th hole!) in the Publishing Solutions @ Tech Zone – where exhibitors and visitors can demonstrate their virtual golfing skills. The event will be sponsored by BDS Group’s West10 Entertainment and in the spirit of the competition, birdies, eagles and albatrosses will be communicated via a running ‘score card’. The tournament begins at 10:10am on Tuesday 8 April 2014 with footballing pro, Sol Campbell introducing the tee off between our LBF Non-Executive Chair, David Roche and West10 Managing Director, Eric Green.

Commenting on the partnership, Barry Smith, BDS Director of Sales, said: “Nintendo’s Wii platform is about being dynamic and interactive, it is fun and it opened the door onto a new future for gaming. This is what West10 does for metadata, making it interactive and engaging. There are 37 golf game titles listed for the Wii alone, and with West10 data you can find out about them and then, via West10’s unique deep linking, cross-reference that with the huge variety of titles across a range of platforms and media.”

Jacks Thomas, Director, The London Book Fair, said: “We are delighted to have West10 as sponsors of the Chairman’s Challenge. Both the Bar and the PS zone will be busy as the area is packed with a great range of exhibitors, features and events – we have the popular Author HQ and are looking forward to the announcement of the BIC Bookseller Industry Awards Supply Chain shortlist as well as their regular networking events which will doubtless bring forth new contenders for the hotly contested Chairman’s Challenge Wii Golf Trophy!”

Exhibitors and visitors can test their golfing skills across all three days of the Fair, with LBF’s Non-Executive Chairman David Roche teeing off each day at 11.15am, for those who would like to join him.
