Digitally pioneering author will be keynote speaker at April conference
The London Book Fair, in association with the Publishers Association, is delighted to announce that author Neil Gaiman will give a keynote speech at the fifth Digital Minds Conference on Sunday 14 April 2013.
Neil Gaiman has become an internationally recognised author brand via his bestselling novels such as American Gods and Coraline, graphic novels, films and TV programmes.
For the last decade, his embrace of social media via his blog and Twitter presence as @neilhimself has elevated him to superstar status and nurtured a vast, loyal and vocal online community of readers for his works. As a writer whose stories cross genres, Gaiman enjoys success across multiple media embodying all of the themes that the Digital Minds Conference will explore in its fifth edition.
Jacks Thomas, Senior Exhibition Director at The London Book Fair said: “Neil is a pioneering author — one of the first author bloggers, he has made himself a digital phenomenon, with an incredible 1.8 million followers on Twitter. I am delighted that he has agreed to give a keynote speech at Digital Minds – his success and expertise exemplify everything we hope to explore at the conference.
Delegates will find Neil’s perspective on engaging with his audience invaluable and the opportunity of hearing how his familiarity with using social media came about is gold dust for all wannabe online community builders. We’re so pleased to be able to welcome Neil to DMC 2013.”

As the ebook market in the UK and US matures and establishes itself significantly in international markets, we will discuss what this means for content publishing now. Our exciting programme will focus on helping publishers address and resolve the biggest challenges of 2013: discovery in a world of shrinking physical shelf space and the urgent need for direct reader engagement. I’m excited to meet and introduce this year’s impressive line-up of speakers and I hope to see you all there!” The conference will take place on Sunday before The London Book Fair (14 April 2013) at The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in Westminster.
The conference will build on the success of previous years, appealing to a global demographic with delegates and speakers coming from across the publishing industry and the media more widely. The format will remain fully interactive with live learning, networking, and a continued emphasis on experiential sessions.
