REED EXHIBITIONS ANNOUNCES NEW DIRECTOR OF
THE LONDON BOOK FAIR
Reed Exhibitions are delighted to announce the appointment of Jacks Thomas – currently joint CEO of Midas Public Relations – as Senior Exhibition Director, The London Book Fair.
The appointment of Thomas, who has over twenty years’ experience within the UK and international book industries, reflects Reed Exhibitions’ commitment to the ongoing development of the Fair as the leading marketplace for one of the world’s most creative industries at a time of transition and transformation.
As a partner for eight years at Midas PR, a Top 50 Consumer PR Week company, an agency that specialises in the creative industries, Thomas has led the teams responsible for the Booksellers’ Association, Publishing Technology, Terry Pratchett’s Narrativia and the Sharjah International Book Fair among others. She has also led the team supporting the London Book Fair for six years, defining the communications strategy around the move to Earls Court and the largest ever Market Focus programme, China 2012.
Prior to joining Midas PR, Thomas was Director of Communications, Europe for Reader’s Digest with a tenure in the US to relaunch the brand in the US prior to a global roll-out. Her close connections with the UK trade were developed through roles at Victor Gollancz, Simon & Schuster, Michael Joseph, HarperCollins and her eponymous agency.

Jacks Thomas has worked in the corporate and arts public relations sectors for over 20 years, joining Midas as a full partner in 2004. Jacks joined the BBC on graduating and then went into the book world working at several of the major UK publishers.
When running her own consultancy she was tempted by the corporate world and worked for Reader’s Digest for six years; starting as Corporate Communications Director in the UK, moving to the US to relaunch their magazine and finally running the PR for 15 countries across Europe as the European Communications Director.
A corporate communications and business development specialist, Jacks runs the corporate division at Midas, in addition to new business development initiatives. She has also successfully introduced a growing number of international clients to the company.
