The London Book Fair (LBF) has announced the Quantum: Inspiration Informed by Data conference will return on Monday 9 April 2018, in partnership with Nielsen Book, and with publishing consultant and former Marketing Director at Faber & Faber, Matt Haslum, as Chair.

Returning for its eighth year, Quantum gives delegates an insight into the current state of the international publishing market. With audio publishing taking centre stage, the second half of the day at Quantum 2018 will be solely focussed on audiobooks, spanning audio rights, evolving business models, and marketing and creativity.

Orna O’Brien, Conference Manager at LBF commented: “With the invaluable insight of our expert steering committee, and powerful audience research carried out by our partners Nielsen Book, we are creating a compelling Quantum programme for 2018. Reflecting the audience, and the global nature of the conference, speakers will hail from a wide variety of geographies. The majority will be voices as yet unheard in publishing circles.”

Nielsen Book will again be at the heart of the conference with the latest market insights underpinning all sessions.

Andre Breedt, Managing Director, Nielsen Book Research, said: “We’re delighted to be working with The London Book Fair again on this seminal event for the publishing world, where the implications of our market insight can be explored and big ideas of the day debated.”

Matt Haslum, added: “With audio finally taking its rightful place as a serious player in publishing, we’re seeing a broader audience of reluctant readers and non-readers discovering books in their own way. Alongside expanding content and platform thinking and welcoming new, diverse talent into the industry, this seismic shift in audiobooks will be core to how the industry develops in the coming years – and Quantum is the ideal forum to share, discuss and learn.”

2018’s Quantum conference will cover a wide range of themes including: consumer dynamics, influencer marketing, new creative talent and competition from the wider creative industries, channels for increased sales, audio publishing, and key industry trends.

Delegates will have the choice to attend the full programme and benefit from a packed programme of global publishing voices, inspiration, motivation, and case studies, or attend the afternoon session alone. A Quantum ticket also provides free of charge entry to The London Book Fair on any or all days, 10 to 12 April 2018. Ticket prices start at £249 for a full day, and are available from http://quantum.londonbookfair.co.uk/entry.

Curated by a steering committee of industry experts from across Europe, the USA and UK, the full line-up of speakers at the conference will be announced in early 2018.
