Submissions Open for Trailblazer Awards

The London Book Fair recognises UK publishing talent under 30

London. 2 November 2016. Celebrating publishing professionals who are demonstrating innovation and ambition in the book industry, the Trailblazer Awards, created by The London Book Fair and supported by the Society of Young Publishers and BookBrunch, open for nomination today.

Now in their second year, the Awards are open to anyone under the age of 30 (as of 14 March 2017) who is ‘roaring through their 20s’.

Five winners will be selected by a judging panel and announced at a ceremony in London in February 2017, hosted by The London Book Fair and SYP.

Winners will receive VIP entry to The London Book Fair, including access to The Club at the Ivy’s LBF pop-up and inclusion in the LBF International Excellence Awards.

Ella Khan, Co-Founder of DKW Literary Agency, who was one of last year’s winners, said: “The Trailblazer Awards are a fantastic way to celebrate the achievements of young people in the industry. Winning the 2016 awards with my business partner Bryony has really helped us raise our profile and led directly to brilliant new opportunities for us – I would encourage any young publisher to put themselves forward for the awards.”

How to enter:
Entrants can enter themselves, or nominate a friend or colleague who they believe deserves to be recognised. Initially LBF will ask people to submit a short description of why they should win in no more than 50 words via the LBF website: www.londonbookfair.co.uk/trailblazer

All eligible applicants will then be contacted by the LBF team and invited to submit a video (no longer than 60 seconds) or written entry demonstrating why they should win the award. The entries will then be collated and reviewed by the judging panel.

Applications will close on 2 December.

Criteria:
Nominees must have demonstrated innovation, creativity, a can-do attitude, passion for the industry and for winning, ambition, and a desire to be the best at what they do.

Eligibility:

  • Nominees must be under 30, as of 14 March 2017
  • They must work in the publishing industry within the UK
  • Interns are eligible, but not anyone in full time education

The London Book Fair will host a special celebration in February 2017 when the five winners of the Trailblazer Awards will be announced.
