Goodbye Earls Court, Hello Olympia!

The London Book Fair 2015 (14-16 April) will take place in Olympia London

London, Tuesday 8 April: ‘A river of ink’ leading up to the entrance to Earls Court Exhibition Centre will take The London Book Fair visitors on a ‘journey’ to Olympia London, the Fair’s new home from 2015.

The ‘river of ink’ is a carpet of messages about Olympia London that will be displayed on the ground outside of Earls Court’s main entrance on Warwick Road throughout The London Book Fair, which starts today, Tuesday 8 April. Alongside important information about the extensive £20m redevelopment of Olympia since 2011 and its improved transport links, the ‘river of ink’ will whet the appetite for more facts about both venues.

Did you know that in preparation for the 2002 Brit Awards at Earls Court, the entire stock of British Asparagus was purchased by the events caterers? Or that Olympia was built on top of a vineyard?

It is part of a wide-ranging LBF and Olympia marketing and promotion campaign that will inform visitors and exhibitors about the vision for LBF 2015 at Olympia. This information campaign will include a new-look registration area, an Olympia themed sales lounge, branding around the show – including the backs of the loo doors! – and also The View event space in the Rights Centre, which will be designed around an Olympia inspiration.

The Olympia branding around the Fair will direct people to the many practical ways they can get further information about the new home, including:-
• Visit the Olympia-themed sales lounge (P450, EC2)
• Exhibitors can go on a tour of Olympia, which are running regularly during the Fair (7 April at 1:45pm, 8 April at 12:15pm, 9 April at 12.15pm & 5.15pm, 10 April at 12.15pm & 4.45pm and 11 April at 10am) which are being arranged through the sales team at the sales lounge
• Or visit www.londonbookfair.co.uk/olympia for more information including the layout.

Anna Golden, Commercial Director ECO (who operate both Earls Court and Olympia London), said:

“The ECO Group is delighted to be continuing its longstanding relationship with The London Book Fair and we are looking forward to the new look show in our newly refurbished and bigger Olympia London. Next year we will be welcoming many of you back to Olympia and are excited about showing you the many additions and enhancements that have taken place during LBF’s Earls Court years. I have really enjoyed working with the LBF team on a joint marketing and promotion campaign to ensure that the messaging around the move is reflective of the team spirit, inspiring and fun.”

The London Book Fair 2015, 16-18 April, will take place at Olympia London (Hammersmith Road, Kensington, London W14 8UX).
